How
to Acquire Stamps?
You
may have started to
collect stamps when
someone gave you a packet
or a starter pack as
a present. Or your family
might be a stamp collector
and a member of AJD
Groups family. Or perhaps,
you have some friends
overseas and you were
attracted by colorful
stamps on letters sent
by them. However you
began, now you want
to add more stamps to
your collection or fill
in the gaps in your
sets or album. There
are many ways to do
this.
STAMP
CLUBS
All
serious stamp collectors
should belong to a stamp
club because there are
so many advantages that
you can gain out of
your membership. Joining
a stamp club allows
you to meet others with
the same hobby and helps
you learn more about
philately. Our very
own AJD
Stampers Club and
AJD
Stamps and Coins Club
is a free stamp collectors
club on the net where
hundreds of members
come on-line and enjoy
the friendship and the
trading of stamps worldwide.
From time to time, I
also come up with games
and contest that you
will win some free stamps
to encourage you to
partcipate. You are
welcome to join our
programs of AJD
Round Robin and
AJD
Birthday Club. We
also have our new AJD
Connection Forum
where you can trade
stamps by other collector's
interest like coins,
baseball cards, phonecards,
etc.
Every
cities where you live
also have a local stamp
club where the members
meet once a month. Most
clubs organize a program
of events that includes
visiting speakers, members'
displays, competitions,
and opportunities to
swap and buy stamps.
In United States, we
also have so many stamp
societies that are affiliated
with American
Philatelic Society
.
POST
OFFICES
If
you collect stamps of
your own country, one
important source is
your local post office.
Most post office has
the philatelic center
devoted to the needs
of collectors, though
you will only be able
to buy new and recent
issues.
EXHIBITIONS
Stamp
exhibitions or stamp
shows provide an excellent
opportunity to buy stamps
from a wide range of
dealers gathered together
under one roof. Some
Philatelic Society host
a stamp show once or
twice a year. You can

to your area.
AUCTIONS
You
can also check out our

any available stamps
that you want. You can
also visit our on-line

Store Auction .

STAMP
DEALERS
If
you are lucky to have
a stamp store near your
home, then you can easily
go there and look at
the stock of stamps
that the dealers' has.
Many stamp dealers nowadays
has an on-line shops
and they can mail you
a stamp magazine. Some
dealers can also send
you a stamps "on
approval". Just
select and pay for those
you have decided to
buy and return those
you don't want.
